Entleiber A blend of my favourite genres, and a very well-made one at that, sounding all natural. Poltergeist just get the tone right. Love the more aggressive riffs and the idyllic daydreamy parts. Vocals could be a tad louder and less timid sometimes to fully unfold that nice timbre. There are some beautiful melodies on this EP. Can't wait to watch where it takes this band. Favorite track: Darklands.

barleybase This is a mix of genres brewed together to produce something wholly unique. The sense of atmospheric mood is set from the start, and played throughout. Tempo changes mesh with riffs and runs that bring out a sense of wonder. Really just a solid EP that feels like the natural progression for Poltergeist. Favorite track: We Watch the Skies.

kev_bot I love how variable the tracks are but how cohesive the mood and themes are. Sits extremely well with my vampire blood >:B

Cant wait for the next release Favorite track: We Watch the Skies.

I often search my mind For things I cannot find Trying hard to connect the words But the vision is far too blurred Patiently I wait and comply As I watch my life pass me by Growing into maturity Fading into obscurity Stepping forward with the blindfold on Some things have come and gone Take a moment to forget these lines I'm being held within the confines
3.
Anxiously! I watch the sky While a lonely crow flies by It's cold and gloomy in the park Shimmering moonlight in the dark Serenity! Gives way to fear I'm not the only one still here Is it just within my mind? If I look, what will I find? A menacing presence consumes the night Taken for its own delight It's taking me further in its grip The taste of blood is on my lip! My mind's about to disappear But everything's becoming clear This strange sensation pleases me Addicted to the agony! Pain! Here it comes again Thirst! For this, I am cursed I'll take your body, drink your blood Consummate my transformation Drag your body through the mud Come and witness my damnation! What have I done? (what have I done) Waited for the ascending sun I thought its golden rays would never find me As I watch it rise (as I watch it rise) I know that this will be my demise A life of deathlessness. Reduced! To! Dust! [As the sun peaks over the horizon, And its radiant energy spills across the landscape, Its blazing rays pierce every molecule of the vampire’s being. He disintegrates into a billion particles of dust and his remains are scattered in the wind. After one-thousand years of living like a king, the creature has met his own mortality. Now, his restless spirit wanders the edges of the Earth with all the other lost souls. Through clouded eyes, they watch the skies...]

Morning Star 04:17
I hear you calling I see what's not right Look in your heart See what's left inside Don't run in a circle And trip on your pride You're always hiding From how you really feel But it's all I can do, I feel safer in the dark Always be grateful For time, long gone by And don't expect it all to be alright Don't get discouraged It's never too late Step off and take flight Keep the dream alive tonight And I just don't think I can take this anymore
5.
Darklands 06:50
It's a fine line, we're walkin' on a razor's edge Things are looking bleak, the world's on it's knees No lookin' back, we gotta shake the disease When sunlight fades, all hope dies The road is long and unpredictable Driving drunk and blind into the night We'll walk through the land (we'll walk through the land) We'll walk through the darkland (we'll walk through the dark, dark land) Come take my hand We'll walk through the darkland We'll walk through the dark (we'll walk through the dark) We'll walk through the darkland (we'll walk through the dark, dark land) Come take my hand We'll walk through the darkland OUGH! When things are intense, you can't sit on the fence You gotta stand up and believe something can be write It's uselsess to try and hold another down Come on, get out of my way The road is long and unpredictable Driving drunk and blind into the night We'll walk through the land (we'll walk through the land) We'll walk through the darkland (we'll walk through the dark, dark land) Come take my hand We'll walk through the darkland We'll walk through the dark (we'll walk through the dark) We'll walk through the darkland (we'll walk through the dark, dark land) Come take my hand We'll walk through the darkland Darklands! Darklands! Darklands! We're walking in the Darklands! Darklands! Darklands!

about

Hallucinations in the Catacombs is Poltergeist's first official EP. Poltergeist began near the end of 2019 after songwriter Kalen Baker had moved from Calgary and had to leave his band Whyte Diamond behind to start a working career in radio. During the time living alone in a small town in Northern Alberta, he began writing and recording demos to continue his passion for making music.

Following the release of Yesterday Fades in February 2020, there was an unexpected wave of positive support for the music. Then, quarantine hit. With no hope of meeting local musicians any time soon, Baker began writing new music and spent a lot of time honing his recording and mixing skills. In August, Baker moved to Red Deer (About an hour from Calgary) and set up his home studio dubbed Pink Noise Studio.

After a year since the last demo, Hallucinations in the Catacombs is Poltergeist's strongest and tightest release yet. Much more care and time have gone into arranging, recording, and production. With influences ranging from Sisters of Mercy, to Bathory, to Cocteau Twins, Poltergeist has created a strange blend of post-punk, old school heavy metal, shoegaze and darkwave. This is a taste of what's to come in the future, and Poltergeist hopes to play live when venues are open again.
